Early

In 1976, Björk appeared on national radio singing 'I Love To Love' through the music school she attended, which lead her to a record deal. And so Björk, with the help of stepdad Sævar, releases her very first solo album in 1977! The songs were a mixture of covers translated into Icelandic, like the Beatles hit 'Fool On The Hill' ('Alfur Út Úr Hól') and Stevie Wonder's song 'Your Kiss Is Sweet' ('Búkolla'), but it also contained some songs written specifically for the album, like the title song 'Arabadrengurinn' ('The Arab Boy') written by stepdad Sævar, and one instrumental flute-tribute to Icelandic painter Jóhannes Kjarval written & performed by none other than 11-year old Björk herself! The album went platinum and she was offered the chance to do a second album, but she turned it down. With the money she earned she bought herself a piano and started composing new songs of her own. Later on she joined a series of smaller bands, like 'Spit & Snot', 'Exodus' and 'Jam 80' until she hit the punk wave and joined Tappi Tíkarrass.

recorded at the hlíðrijinn studios in reykjavík, iceland december 1977. björk was only 11 years old when she released this, her very first album. she was offered to make a second album slightly after this one, but turned it down. this album was only released in limited edition and is very sought-after by collectors and traders, sometimes reaching prices ranging from $100 to $700.
it was never officially released on cd! there are bootlegs in cd format, and people often mistake them for an original release, but the original is only available in lp & mc format. since 2000, there are also bootleg vinyls circulating. you can tell if it is a bootleg by the text 'limited to 1000 copies' written on the backside in white text. the original does not state this. some of the bootlegs are even in coloured vinyl. the vinyl bootleg shouldn't be sold for more than $20-$25. the scans presented here are from the bootleg version.

this is an extremely rare cassette version of the release. the scan was sent to us in june 2004 by an icelandic man who says 'you say on the discography that rumour says björk´s first lp exists on casette. that is true. i have one such, bought by myself long time ago, my children was listening for years. thank you, b.g.' this is the first real evidence ever of this release.
